SPKO Book Release, New York Comic Con, and the Bad Bad Butch O’ Rowdy

So here’s the poster I’m coloring as we speak for the SPKO 2 Book Signing here in Savannah, GA. It’ll be in two weeks at the Ex Libris Bookstore.

I’m planning on having a limited print for the first 50 readers who show up. It’s exciting to have the signing in the same bookstore I entered for the first time 9 years ago as a college freshman.

New York Comic Con was a blast. I spent the first day at the Modern Museum of Art. It was something else. I must’ve spent over 3 hours exploring the place and taking it all in. From there, I hit up my friend Justin Markure in Brooklyn and spent some time with him and his posse. Oh, and there was Dave and Busters action too. I’m saddened to say I got my tail handed to me.

The con itself was a blur. I feel like I met so many people over the span of 3 days on the floor. I also got to talk with Chris Houghton , the artist on Reed Gunter over at Image Comics. It was great sharing some of our experiences as newer artists in the industry. Overall, I came home tired and busted. My flight was at 6am so I partied with my friends until about 4:30am and headed straight to the airport. That’s just how you do it :D

I can’t wait to go back. I’ll be there next year with 2 books instead of one. Ideally, I’d like to be right in the heart of Time Square again.

Bad Bad Butch O’ Rowdy is one of 3 new faces in Super Pro K.O.! that appears in volume 2. He’s a wrecking machine, and that’s all I’ll say for now. But he’s one of my favorite new characters. He’s like the Scott Steiner of SPKO. I love em.

Next week, I’ll begin showing off some of my favorite pages from SPKO 2. November 2nd is right around the corner!
