SPKO v3: pg. 203 : The Muscle Buster

It's been awhile since I've posted an update on Super Pro K.O. v3. Here's page 203 from the next volume. It's almost complete :D Here's a muscle buster by Butch O' Rowdy to King Crown Jr.!

It's becoming a bit emotional knowing that I'm almost done. It's been almost a year and a half of nonstop work. It's taken a lot longer than expected but it's been great having the time to make it perfect.

Super Pro K.O.! 3: Promo Art Peek

SPKO 3 Promo Art (before colors). Sensational Sike plays up his awesome choke hold for the audience watching at home.
I have a ton of promo art for this volume. I aimed to tap into the feel of a live, pro-wrestling show in all of them.  I love how this image shows that the wrestlers are hyper aware of the camera's. That camera time is so important, especially when you're competiting for TV time right? A huge part of all the energy in these shows are the fans and I've done my best to capture that too. As challenging as the arena scenes are, they're super gratifying in the end.

Wrapping Super Pro K.O. v3 Up!

Inking the last batch of pages on Super Pro K.O. v3: Gold for Glory! I feel pretty good these days. I'm happy with the work, and even happier that I took the extra care to ensure this book is the best thing I've ever drawn. There were some doubts in the middle of the project, which is pretty common for me when I work on anything this long. However, I'm very happy with the outcome, and I'm sure you will be too. This book is ridiculous!

Super Pro K.O.! 3: Platinum Sky City Stadium

Just a hint at the level of detail in Super Pro K.O. v3's Platinum Sky City Stadium. I took a bunch of reference shots from San Diego's Qualcomm's Stadium last time I attended Comic Con. Between this and New York Comic Con, you may recognize a bunch of stuff in this background to this volume.

Things I love about this spread: The Action Slamson toys, the ticket stubs, even Mr. Info's "Before the Bell Pre-Show" filming. It's all in attempt to make this world much more believable than anything I've drawn before.

Super Pro K.O.! 3: King Crown Jr. vs. Bad Bad Butch O' Rowdy

It's been awhile since I've shown a solid SPKO 3 page. I'm wrapping up this monster volume in a month and I've been waiting all year to ink the big main event of this book. I'm pumped and exhausted. It's hard to put into words.

I'm not pulling any stops with the crowds either this volume. It's been taxing but I've found myself growing as an artist this year tackling all sorts of new problems (like more realistic crowds and details). It's been truly gratifying watching it all come together.

More to come,

Jarrett
