STORY

Joe Somiano risked it all by dropping out of college to pursue his childhood dream of becoming a pro wrestler, much to the disapproval of his father. Graphic Content SPKO Review

Graphiccontent.org included Super Pro K.O.! on their Scott Pilgrim Booklist. It’s covered along with Sharknife (by Corey Lewis) and Hopeless Savages (written by Jen Van Meter and featuring the artwork of several artists). Check it out here: http://graphiccontent.org/2012/02/08/scott-pilgrim-booklist-part-three-brandon-on-super-pro-k-o/

It’s pretty cool that someone will read SPKO and then want to get back into watching wrestling. I’m glad it causes that strong of a reaction. And what better time of the year to start watching than Wrestlemania season?

Super Pro KO Video #1

Decided to post the first of a couple videos detailing progress on SPKO 3. I'm about halfway through pencils and you can see the stack of pages I have to ink towards the end of the vid. All shot on my droid. Maybe I need to investigate in some legit video cams?

Emerald City Comic Con 201

Hey, I’m going to be at Emerald City Comic Con on March 30-April 1! I’ll announce the booth times later. I’ll have some prints and mini comics on hand besides the comic books. I’ve never been to Seattle or ECCC so it should be a good time!

Later!

Super Pro K.O.! Emblems…Collect Em All

So I’ve always had this habit of collecting game manuals (probably good since they’re becoming more and more obsolete in print form). I found some the other day and it got me to thinking about power ups, in particular the design of them. I think we overlook these little gems of game art sometimes. So I went a little crazy and designed a bunch and came up with hypothetical and somewhat outlandish ways people could achieve them by reading Super Pro KO 3: Gold for Glory.

Here’s a sampling:

Yo, respect the Bomberman inspired “Emblem” text :D

But yeah, there’s a bunch more. And the best part is you can check them off by completing small objectives:“ Receive your first comic pitch rejection letter” or “Spray on a bit of bro-tastic cologne”. I won’t reveal the stat effects but they’re pretty cool too.

Oh, and they’re hidden throughout panels of SPKO 3 so its sort of a little Emblem hunt for people into that sort of thing. I figured why not inject a little collecthathon in this volume.

It may be something the average reader looks over once. But I know there’s a kid out there who will want to find them all during recess or something. The hard part for me is composing them in ways to not interfere with the story. I’m thinking Where’s Waldo levels of hunting involved.

Will you be able to find the National Disaster 3 badge? Doubt it. Good luck comickers.

Desktop Tweets: Tomahawk Slamson/ Action Slamson

Shared this on twitter and figured why not post it here too. Won't say why Slamson's face is on this building but you'll see soon enough.
