TWEETS
STORY

Joe Somiano risked it all by dropping out of college to pursue his childhood dream of becoming a pro wrestler, much to the disapproval of his father. King Crown Jr. is a second-generation pro-wrestler, and current Heavyweight Champion of Super Pro. K.O.!, that drinks more than he trains. Will Joe ever get a shot at wearing the SPKO Title? And will King Crown Jr. stay focused enough to defend the Championship  at any costs?

El Heroe, SPKO!'s Veteran Luchador!

El Heroe is one of my favorite characters and plays mentor to Joe early on in the series. The veteran of SPKO may still looks 20 years old but he's a true in ring competitor. I made the conscious decision for him to NOT speak broken English in volume 2 like in volume 1. I thought it was pretty insensitive in retrospect.  Plus, he would’ve picked it up between his kids and working SPKO matches in an English-speaking country right? So early on in volume 2, you see him reading a Speak English series of books. Several months later and El Heroe’s as fluent as the rest of the cast. Also catch the Kofi Kingston reference :D Boom! Boom!
I also enjoy drawing his two sons, El Heroe Jr. and Amancio. It’s a “same-dad- different –moms” scenario for the two brothers. El Heroe’s 2nd wife is pretty chill but we have yet to me his first wife.  Hmmm.
Amancio
El Heroe Jr.
Mrs. El Heroe
I also love his little comic book within the comic book, El Heroe Supers. I did a short mini comic bonus feature about it a year ago. Here it is for all of you:
I have a couple side stories about El Heroe’s earlier year. I hope to include some as a bonus story in SPKO one day. Maybe I should do some side El Heroe webcomics?
Oh, and to everyone that sent in a twitpic of your SPKO 2 copies, I mailed out all the Crown Jr. prints last Friday so check out for them in the mail!

SPKO 2: Joe Somiano, This Is Your Life

So Super Pro K.O.! 2 takes place 3 months after volume 1. Things haven’t been so peachy for Joe Somiano considering he hasn’t been featured on television since his debut match versus Prince Clemont Swagger. His expression on this page says it all…

I won’t spoil what happens next. Let’s just say desperate measures are in order. Check out SPKO 2 in comic shops and bookstores everywhere this Wednesday November 2nd!

SPKO 2: Tomahawk Slamson

Tomahawk Slamson is one of my favorite characters and I think it’s because he’s arrogant and cocky, but also extremely hard-working. His budding acting career has taken his focus a bit away from the ring. He dismisses Joe early on in SPKO #1. Now with the release of National Disaster 3 coming up, he’s beginning his promo tour around the country. Here’s a sneak peek below:

Oh yeah, and he’s rocking a Usagi Yojimbo T-shirt. Perfect timing since the 200th issue of Usagi Yojimbo is out this week (Issue #141 through Dark Horse to be exact). Stan Sakai is the man.

Super Pro K.O.! 2: Chaos in the Cage! out in one week, November 2nd!
